Die Systemsoftware stellt den Anwendungsprogrammen gewisse Grundfunktionen über standardisierte Schnittstellen (sog. APIs, „Application Programming Interfaces”) zur Verfügung.

The system software provides certain basic functions to the application programs in way of standardised interfaces (so-called APIs, „Application Programming interface“).
