The teaching aim of the chapter documentation is to enable students to produce and edit media (graphics, photos, audio documents, videos) in protocol quality 1), with the aim of using them for corresponding documentations or publications (print media, hypermedia, digital media, presentations). A further aim is to design and create those documentations and publications mentioned above and to publish them in internet compatible media, should the occasion arise. Thereby it is important that students are able to identify underlying technical, organizational or legal matters, in order to be able to contact the right expert (IT, security, copyright, graphics and design), if necessary.

1) The term protocol quality hints at the fact that the quality of the elaboration (layout, graphic design, coloring, typography) of the media and documentation is NOT measured against professional applications (mass media, advertisements, PR, public presentations) but rather against fields of application of daily needs. Although the aimed-at quality of the documentation meets requirements within the framework of academic studies in the first place, the whole training can be regarded as a basis for the application in a subsequent professional environment, too.
